JPA Scholarship

I do agree that we should give scholarship to all high achievers regardless of race but at the same time it has to be balanced. Those who can afford should not be given scholarships because they can go on their own. We must have well thought out criterion so that it wont be subject to abuse. If the end result shows inbalance, then adjustments made to balance it out. Then those under scholarships, must be bonded via working with GLCs. This will reduce brain drain.

For those who renege, the government has the right to deduct from the EPF of the guarantors. Overseas scholarships must only be given for certain courses, students track record, language ability, maturity and leadership qualities. Worth to carry out special exams and interviews to filter and identify the good ones.

i'm back now...

finally i can revisit my own site. Have been so busy in the past many months. many things has happened - Najib as PM, perak downfall, PKFZ, manek urai up to poor teoh's death.

regardless of how he died, the fact remains that he was on MACC's premises. So it does not look good on MACC....as if they have been looking good anyway all this while!

i'm sad because our govt seems incapable and unwilling to improve the situation at all. don't you wonder why? is it because the people are so care less that they can do whatever they want? maybe so...when teoh died, only 3000 people turned up at kelana jaya... if we are so passionate about freedom, justice, transparency, integrity..etc shouldn't the crowd be more than that? only 3000 people cared?

the question to ask is " does showing dissappointment / disapproval quietly adequate?" Does it change things? Or because our tidak apa attitude ?

The Malaysian people must ask this themselves and make a decision...

.....sigh... speaker....

He is still the speaker....Nobody can dispute this! Then he calls for an assembly...yet the state civil servants subservient to BN close the building! The police sealed off all roads leading to the state assembly building. Due to this, the assembly had to be held under the tree. Now, the police calls it an illegal gathering!!

What a strange country we live in...
We, the people are allowing these abuses...
by keeping quiet, we condone these actions...

Why so?

My Problems with The Malaysian Chinese

Why the malays feel that the chinese are not truly malaysian.....

1) Till today they insist on sending their kids to the chinese school. Why? Why cant it be a national school? Their kids will grow up not able to speak malay which is a national language. Is this the trait of a truly malaysian citizen? They grow to distrust the malays. So i feel the chinese should decide whether they want to be truly malaysian or not!!

2) In Penang - Some chinese wants to replace the road signs to be in chinese!! what is this?????? Where do they think they are???? China???

3) Halal food issue - They know that the malays are sensitive about the issue of halal non-halal food. Yet they have never shown respect on this sensitivities. There are still issues until today on the validity of some halal claims. Why cant they respect & be honest about this?

4) In business - a chinese seller would give better discounts to another chinese buyer. This happens most of the times. Is this fair too?? If a malay wants to open up a biz on hardware shop - do you think he can survive? Do you think he can get cheap prices ? No because this is all controlled by the chinese. Because of this action, the malay shop will never be able to offer a competitive price. Regardless of race, a buyer will always look for the best bargain. So will the malay survive?? Never!!

5) Office - The chinese looks down at all malay staff. Regardless whther he is good, he will never be recognised by the chinese boss. Even if the ability is the same, the chinese staff will definite be the better choice! Why? Why cant you be fair?

6) One person claimed in Malaysiakini letter, that the chinese are fair because they pay tax and the tax money are used for the benefits of the malays. Fair claim but did they pay the tax voluntarily of because it is compulsory? They pay tax because of it being compulsory!!!! In fact they will pay as little as possible - A chinese biz will have 3 accounts book - one for bank, one for tax and one for own use!!

I have so many other examples - endless. You now what, I will be called a racists after this. But you know what, you are not fair to us because of what the government has been doing to you for the past 50 years. That is understandable and i do not blame you. BUT the main question is , will you be fair to us if we are fair to you. Can you warrant to us that by sweeping out the racists policies , you will be fair to us?? Does your chinese associations be able to act fairly towards us? No doubt the western educated chinese will be able to do that but the majority of them, chinese educated will not be able to do that! AND THAT IS WHY WE WILL NEVER BE FULLY INTEGRATED! NO TRUST BETWEEN EACH OTHER. Remember, ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS. Until this is actually happening, all races competing on level par, treating each other on fairly, benefitting together etc, only then will we see a change in this country.

Nothing makes me want this more than anything because we can live peacefully - I miss the muhibbah time when i was growing up. This word, muhibah means nothing nowadays.

Reminder For Anwar

Just want to highlight Faisal Mustafa's comment on Anwar's arrival at the parliament - ie 5 cars in front & 2 cars behind - Isnt it a bit too grand....?

Then I saw the photo Anwar was interviewed where he was flanked by Wan Azizah & Nurul Izzah - My question is why Nurul. Shouldn't he be flanked by the PR leaders. Anwar must not be potraying that the future PM also has a kitchen cabinet?? No doubt Nurul has the right to be there but it is more prudent not to be too obvious - Please show some humility.

Letter From Malaysiakini

Oh, what a night!
Jude Manickam | Aug 28, 08 4:03pm

Aug 27 2008. It's the morning after the landmark Permatang Pauh by-election. The feeling is one of euphoria - that we had prevailed despite the obstacles placed before us, that we had remained united despite the provocations and threats - both veiled and otherwise. Truly, in many ways - this is the people's victory.

MCPX

The night before I felt positively privileged to be at the Tunku Bainun Teachers' Training College in Berapit, Bukit Mertajam together with my fellow Malaysians. Never have I felt so passionate about being a Malaysian than last night. For that night we told and showed whoever who cared to listen that the tides had changed. Malaysia will never be the same again. For the better.

The cool and cloudy night was a pleasant respite from the rain that had been plaguing the area for the past few days. Hordes of others had been there well before us. The groundswell was close to 20,000. Pakcik and Makcik, little ones with their parents in tow, urban folk and kampung folk, Chinese, Malays, Indians, mixed, outstation people and locals, you name it - we were there.

I had three friends who had come all the way from Klang just to be part of the historic process - though never in their wildest dreams did they expect such a resounding win. Where we were standing, soaking in the atmosphere, we were delightfully entertained by an elderly gentleman who revealed that he had been Anwar's teacher way back then.

He had come from KL with his wife and a couple of friends, one of whom happened to be Anwar's classmate. He quipped, ‘Now, you know, Anwar always paid his school fees on time... but Khairy is still paying his!’ And this: ‘Today, we have all become Malaysians’.

When the ‘official’ count was finally revealed at around 10.10pm, we had been there for a good three hours already. Why it took the EC so long to declare the final tally - considering it was just one miserable by-election, only they know. Sour grapes? Maybe. Still in denial mode? Definitely!

The crowd continued to wait for another hour or so. Interspersed with the chants of ‘Re-for-ma-si!’ was an intrepid rendition of Negaraku and a rousing version of ‘Perajurit Tanah Air’ - the national patriotic song we used to sing in school but sung now like I've never heard before! I couldn't sing after the first verse - I was too choked up with emotion. Lyrics produced below:

Inilah barisan kita,

Yang ikhlas berjuang.

Siap sedia berkorban,

Untuk ibu pertiwi!

Sebelum kita berjaya,

Jangan harap kami pulang!

Inilah sumpah pendekar kita,

Menuju medan bakti!

Andai kata kami gugur semua,

Taburlah bunga di atas pusara.

Kami mohon doa,

Malaysia berjaya!

Semboyan telah berbunyi,

Menuju medan bakti!

If indeed we have to sumpah for anything, this is what we need to sumpah for - that we won't return unless we succeed.

The clarion has sounded. Permatang Pauh - mission accomplished. Putrajaya beckons! We have won the battle. Now we must go on and win the ‘war’.

Merdeka Malaysia!

Dooms day from KJPP - Lokgp

We are headed for stagflation. It is a situation where high inflation
occurs and economic growth is stagnant or negative.
Inflation is occuring as our paper money (which is link to the USD)
depreciates over time, and more due to the decrease of interest rates
in US.
Our current inflation is driven by cost, and depreciation of ringgit
(Not demand driven)
As inflation creeps up, wages are unable to chase up and that tightens
our spending habits and capabilities. Everyone will hold back on
purchase, big ticket spending, corporations will stop expanding due to
lack of demand for services, reducing budgets causing stagnant/
negative economic growth - aka recession.
As cost goes up, in order to remain profitable corporation increase
prices and reduce work force, which further increase inflation and
unemployment. Which goes on reducing the buyers for the services/goods
offered by the corporation. Inducing a spiraling effect that further
worsen the situation.
High prices and no growth. That's stagflation.
This will continue until there is correct interventions in policies.
Unemployment increases, businesses losses money. Property prices free
fall. Raw materials prices can increase all the want, but there will
be no buyers. Demand falls, therefore prices falls, as no one can
afford them.
Intervention:
As inflation and recession is contradictory to each other. The only
way to go is:
First:
Tackle inflation. Increase of lending interest to twice of the
inflation rate, I pressume would be around 28%. Immediately stopping
speculation and reducing inflation. Growth will be stagnant.
Second:
Once inflation is solved and prices creeps down, new growth projects
to be launch to encourage development, consumption, to bring back
growth and effectively get out of recession.
This may take years and up to 10 years.
The main cause:
The insolvency of US banks and the bankrupt of USA will bring down the
value of the USD comparable to toilet paper. So will the ringgit.
Food, commodity prices soar sky high. We shall face hyperinflation.
Where our fiat money can't buy anything as prices of goods - food -
soar 100X !
The impact:
High unemployment. Soaring food prices. An age of Depression.
Main issue about buying a house now:
If you are unemployed, how will you service your loan especially with
such high interest rates? You will be driven out from your house.
Sleeping on the street and your house auctioned off.
Best suggestion: Don't purchase any big item, rent at all means. Save
money and purchase food and be ready in case you got laid-off.Or buy
fully cash down. Don't buy cars now.
Solution: If you have to buy a house now, go for fixed rate loan from
insurance company at 6% such as AIA.
My argument:
It doesn't matter whether we export mainly to USA or not. But when USA
goes into stagflation, Europe will follow suite, then China, then
Asia. China can't sell their low cost labour products to anyone else.
How could there be demand for growth? Oil demand reduces dramatically
as no growth affecting the Middle EAst. Eventually Malaysia is also
affected. Buying power and food prices will be main concern.
Greatest myth: Asia economy has decoupled from US economy.
We are living in a very perilous times.
What we can do now?:
Sell off and repay loans as much as possible. Reduce consumption and
brace for recession. Stock up on food. Withdraw all your EPF money.
Store your buying power in physical gold. Keep your job. Prudently run
your business. Its no longer about investment, it about capital
preservation right now.
The key: Use common sense to protect yourself. Be PRUDENT.
What if I got it all wrong?
You loose nothing. You purchased your house at a higher price, so does
everyone else. You have too much food in your house but you can still
eat them and save money avoiding the inflation and price increase. You
still have your job and your teh tarik. Your EPF money will still be
safely parked in gold which becomes your investment vehicle. You save
more money by not buying a car.
BUT what if I got it all right?
You have everything to loose.
Think about it. In a situation where the negative consequences
outweighs the positive, it is better to be safe rather than risking
it.
May God help us all.
